Colgan's First Birthday Party!

My sister Cyndi's daughter, sweet Colgan, had her first birthday on April 1st and they celebrated it that weekend with a big party with lots of family and friends. Well, we weren't going to miss it so we packed up and headed down to Atlanta, Georgia for a long weekend. It was so good to spend time with family and the girls finally got to meet Aunt Catie! (who just returned from a year and a half spent teaching English in South Korea). Almost all of the immediate family was there and even some extended family so the girls were held almost 24/7 and they had no complaints ;) After about 4 days we packed up again and headed up to Nashville to spend a week with some more family and friends there. It was so rejuvenating to be around so many friends and loved ones for the week and to just get out of the house every now and again to go to lunch or dinner with friends. Thank you to everyone who was able to come over and meet, play with, and feed the girls and for taking time to let me catch up with all of you! It was sad to have to leave Nashville but it was good to get back into our routine once we were home again. Patrick wasn't able to take off the entire week and a half so he flew into Nashville on Friday evening for a long weekend and we all drove back home together the following Tuesday.

Some things the girls are currently doing:
*They love to get their toes in their mouths and play with their feet. I have been putting them in outfits without feet whenever it's warm enough so they always have them to play with ;)

*Hannah Kate has 1 tooth on the bottom. We think Charlotte will have one soon too based on how she's acting (a little more fussy than usual).

*The girls are sitting up on their own for a few minutes at a time right now and would much rather be sitting up than laying on their backs on a playmat on the floor.

*Both girls have figured out how to jump on their own in the jumperoo and they love it!

*They also LOVE to swing. They are still too small to be in the baby swing so we are putting them both in one swing (one on each side) and they fit perfectly together :) It causes a few laughs and oohs and ahhs from the other people at the park (and us too).

*They are finally starting to transition into taking longer naps. Hannah Kate will usually take at least one long nap (1.5-2 hours in length) on a normal day and Charlotte...well, we're hoping this happens regularly for her soon too. I'm almost afraid to say this aloud because it's only been a week since this has started happening regularly for HK.

Here are a few pictures from our recent travels:

This is how the girls take their baths these days...Patrick couldn't resist the blow up rubber ducky tub and they love to splash around in it!

This is how we bathe when we don't have our tub- a Bumbo chair in the sink works great! HK has begun sticking her tongue out all of the time.

Charlotte enjoying the great outdoors. We spent lots of time outside on our trip because the weather was so nice.

Nana Hunter giving HK a kiss. She didn't mind wearing her sunglasses, I think she knew she looked too cool for school in them ;)

Nana Colgan feeding Charlotte & Nonnie Hunter feeding Hannah Kate at the Nashville Zoo.

Long time family friend Trace finally got to meet the girls and I think they were as delighted with him as he was with them.

I can't believe everyone was looking at the camera! Nana Colgan with Char, Mom, & Aunt Catie holding HK.

I don't know if you can tell in this picture but they both have little carrot mustaches :) HK (L) & Char (R)

The girls taking a ride in Cousin Colgan's car. Char in front, HK in back waving to her fans ;)

HK taking the bull by the horns and telling that car who's boss.

Char enjoying a leisurly drive. I promise they enjoyed the car more than these pictures let on.

Cousin Colgan...aka Mini Cyndi! She makes some of the funniest faces that look exactly like her mama!

The birthday girl trying to give me a smile while eating her cake.

Colgan's own personal cake after she got ahold of it.

The girls loved eating out on the back deck in Atlanta.

Hannah Kate enjoying her spoon after a meal. I love those eyes!

Aunt Catie holding Charlotte & Nana Colgan holding Hannah Kate. I don't know why their hats are pushed up like that but that's not the way we usually wear them ;)

Great Grandma Bush holding HK, Great Aunt Kim holding Charlotte, & Nana Colgan.

Grandpa & Granny Colgan making the girls laugh with a squeaky, squealy pig! I don't know who was more entertained ;)
