4th of July Fun!

We had a great time celebrating our country's independence day this year. In the morning we loaded up the kiddos in the wagon and headed to a little park near our home where the kids played for a while and then we had a picnic lunch at the park. The kids took a good nap and then it was off to the beach! We headed on down to the beach around 4:30pm to meet up with some of our sweet Virginia Beach friends, the Amets and the Holladays, who had also invited some of their friends as well so it turned out to be a good crowd with lots of kiddos for ours to play with. We played at the beach all afternoon and Patrick brought his charcoal grill and grilled hotdogs for dinner along with an assortment of sides and desserts everyone had brought. A security person pulled up on his 4 wheeler to tell Patrick that what he was doing was illegal but he wasn't a cop so he couldn't stop him. However he warned Patrick that he could get a heavy fine if the cops did see him grilling on the beach so he finished that task pretty quickly and put out the fire. It was really a very relaxing day at the beach. We finally headed home around 8 so we didn't get to see the fireworks that they shot off of a boat out in the ocean but it was still lots of fun! When we got home we put Micah to bed because the poor little guy was pooped but the girls stayed up for a bit longer and had popsicles on the back porch while we watched some fireworks we could see from there. It was a great day!
