Patrick & I have been so excited to try camping with the kids this year now that they are all a little older and have been planning on trying backyard camping for our first time. Lots of our neighbors wanted to do the same thing so we all camped out in a field near our houses on Memorial Day weekend and had such a good time! We all headed to the campsite after the little ones naps and set up our tents then grilled out dinner. There were several families that came out and hung out around our campfire until the wee hours of the morning and 4 families set up tents and actually camped out. Everyone had a great time and the kids played until they dropped...around 10pm. It was a pretty cold evening (in the 40s) but we were all bundled up and snuggled down in our sleeping bags, fleece pjs, and blankets. Our kiddos slept soundly from about 10pm until 5am, when Charlotte woke up crying and had to go potty. She couldn't go back to sleep and was crying loud enough to wake up our whole tent so we walked home to try to let the others families sleep a little longer. We all crashed in our bed when we got home and slept for a few more much needed hours ;) We can't wait to do it again in a little bit warmer weather!
Another highlight of the Memorial Day weekend was getting to celebrate our good friends, the Prestons, twins 3rd birthday! My kids love playing with Abbi & Andrew and we are so lucky to have such wonderful neighbors. Happy 3rd Birthday sweet kiddos!
